Headwaters Skating Rink NOW OPEN

Headwaters Park Ice Rink is now OPEN opened for the season. Skaters of all ages can enjoy gliding across the ice, spending time with friends or just taking in the sights of downtown Fort Wayne during the holidays and winter season.

Regular hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m. Starting January 6, the rink will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Special holiday hours will make it easy to fit in some skating during your time off. The rink will be open from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m. on December 22, 23, 26, 29, 30, January 19 and February 16. On New Year’s Eve, hours will be 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. The rink will be closed on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24), Christmas Day (Dec. 25) and New Year’s Day (Jan. 1).

Admission is $7 for ages 3 and older, and free for kids age 2 and under. Skate rental is $4. For those who plan to visit often, a 10-punch pass for $60 offers great savings. There is no admission charge for spectators or parking, so it’s easy for anyone to stop by and enjoy the winter atmosphere. Skating at Headwaters Ice Rink is more than just gliding across the ice.

The rink is surrounded by festive decorations and lights, and music plays throughout the day to keep energy high and spirits bright. It’s the perfect setting for beginners learning their first steps on ice or experienced skaters looking for a fun afternoon with friends. Concessions are available, including hot chocolate and other treats, so visitors can warm up and relax between laps on the ice.

This season, there is something new to look forward to at Headwaters Park. On select Saturdays, the Winter Market at Headwaters Park Ice Rink will be open from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The market in partnership with the YLNI Farmer’s Market is planned on December 20 and February 14 and will offer your favorite local farmers, artisans and makers goods and gifts.

Bring your beginner skaters to Headwaters for special Practice Makes Perfect sessions with the Fort Wayne Ice Skating Club. Four dates are planned including January 10, 17, 24 and 31 from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Sign up online or by phone 260-427-6000 by December 29. Fee for the one-hour session is $20. Walk-ins are welcome if space is available (credit card only).

Returning on Thursdays beginning January 29 is the Dr. John Crawford Days $1 skates. From 4:00 – 9:00 p.m. January 29, February 5, 12 and 19 both admission and skate rental will be $1 in memory and celebration of the service of Dr. John Crawford, a physician and radiation oncologist and 20-year member of the Fort Wayne City Council.

Headwaters Ice Rink has always been a favorite winter spot in Fort Wayne, and this year it’s offering even more reasons to visit.
