Promenade Park Turns 1!
Promenade Park turned one year old this month and was marked with a day-long event. “River, Set, Go” was on Saturday, August 8 and filled with a day full of free, family-friendly events. The sun was out, a light breeze was in the air, and participants social distanced throughout the day as we all enjoyed the first birthday party of this incredible milestone for Fort Wayne.
The day was filled with events including floating yoga, paddle play, a paddle parade, and a floating fire pit finale. Participants filled the surrounding areas and the St. Marys River with kayaks from home or Fort Wayne Outfitters. There was a little competition, a lot of great views, and plenty of food and laughter.
As the effects if COVID-19 continues around the globe and in our community, the Riverfront Fort Wayne events team worked hard to create something on short notice that would allow everyone to enjoy some time away from home while still enjoying a safe and healthy atmosphere. “River, Set, Go” was exactly that.
Even though the days ahead might look a little different than last year, the Riverfront team is working on great events for the fall and winter. Make sure to stay on the look out for new events being announced in the days ahead so that you can enjoy our rivers and all that they offer to our great community.
