Dance Promenade: West Coast Swing
Dance Promenade: West Coast Swing returns to Promenade Park by popular demand! We will be joined by our wonderful instructors from Dance CoLAB, a local dance studio in Columbia City.
So, what is West Coast Swing? Originating in the 1940’s on the West Coast of California, WCS is an adaptable partner dance style that can be used alongside a wide variety of music, including R&B, pop, contemporary or even country. Because of the versality of not only the dance itself, but also the music it can be paired with, each time you hit the dance floor will be a completely unique experience, which makes it not only enjoyable to perform but engaging to watch as well.
This five-part series is great for any level of dancer—whether you are a seasoned professional or this is your first time trying out the style. This is a progressive program and each class builds upon the classes before it, so you don’t want to miss any of the sessions! During the last class on May 8, the Pavilion will be home to an open dance party, where modern and classic music will be played for you to dance the night away and show off your newfound skills.
All ages and abilities are welcome to join us at Dance Promenade, and no partner is required. So, whether you’re looking to refine your skills, meet new friends or simply let loose and have fun, this is a dance class you don’t want to miss.
