Dance Promenade: Latin Dance Fundamentals

We are thrilled to be hosting an upcoming three-week workshop series designed for beginner to intermediate dancers who are looking to enhance their skills in Latin dance. Participants will explore the vibrant rhythms of Bachata and Salsa, with additional elements of Cha-Cha and Rumba. Our instructor for this in-depth three-part workshop is Brenda Diaz.

Throughout the series, Brenda will cover essential techniques, styling and musicality for these Latin dances. Dancers will learn both footwork and partner work, with a focus on key concepts such as weight transfer, body positioning, hand styling and the dynamics of leading and following. This workshop is a fantastic opportunity to deepen your understanding of Latin dance and gain confidence on the floor!

With a lifelong passion for dance, Brenda has embraced the vibrant world of Latin dancing for the past eight years. After transitioning from traditional dance forms to the dynamic rhythms of salsa, bachata, cumbia and merengue, she began sharing her love of dance as an instructor 1.5 years ago.

Having honed her skills in ballroom dance, Brenda now focuses on private lessons in Fort Wayne, where she teaches students of all ages, from 6 to 70 years old. She also hosts popular socials called Bailando, fostering a sense of community and joy among dancers. Brenda is dedicated to empowering her students, guiding them from beginner to confident dancers ready to shine on the dance floor. Brenda creates a welcoming and inspiring environment, encouraging everyone to experience the beauty of dance.

We invite you to join us to learn more about these popular dance styles on November 6, November 13, and November 20 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the Park Foundation Pavilion at Promenade Park. Each session is $10 in advance (or $12 at the door). Register at www.fortwayneparks.org for one session to give it a try or register for all three for the full experience! The deadline to register is the Tuesday before each class.
