Confluence Kitchen: Latin America
Confluence Kitchen: Latin America is a vibrant event that is set to bring the heart and soul of Latin American culture to Promenade Park. Every year, Promenade Park honors different cultures from around the world, and this year on September 27, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. it’s all about Latin America. This special evening will be a chance for the people of Fort Wayne to immerse themselves in the rich traditions, music, food and art of Latin America.
Fort Wayne is home to a large and diverse Latin American community, with people hailing from Central and South America, including the Caribbean. Confluence Kitchen is a celebration of these cultures, offering everyone a chance to learn, taste and enjoy the many wonderful aspects of Latin American life.
Music will fill the air as KelsiCote Banda takes the stage, delivering live performances that capture the rhythm and passion of Latin music. For those who love to dance or simply enjoy good music, DJ La Makina will also be there spinning tunes that are sure to get everyone moving.
But the celebration doesn’t stop with music. Food lovers will have a treat as they explore the flavors of Latin America through local food trucks. La Pupuseria will serve traditional Salvadoran pupusas, while Columbian Delights offers a taste of Colombian cuisine. Abreus Venezuelan Cuisine brings the rich flavors of Venezuela, and Carmelitas will have the perfect ice cream treat to top off the night! To quench your thirst, Lu Garden will offer fresh-pressed sugar cane beverages. As you sip on your drink, you can learn about the history of sugar cane in Latin American countries, adding an educational twist to this tasty experience.
Families and children will also find plenty to do at the event. A tropical-themed photo booth with fun props will be set up, allowing guests to capture memories of their evening. Kids and adults alike can join a Latin percussion session, where they can try their hand at creating rhythms. For those who enjoy arts and crafts, there will be opportunities to make colorful tissue flowers and paint petroglyphs on rocks, activities that tie into traditional Latin American art forms. Additionally, there will be a Spanish language challenge, giving everyone a chance to test their skills and maybe even learn a few new words.
The atmosphere from this event will have you on your feet and dancing before you know it!
